Second Inclusion Golf Tournament — September 16, 2022

For the second time, the German American Women’s Club Munich, e.V, held its Inclusion Golf Tournament at the Golfpark München Aschheim (Golf Club Munich Aschheim). The members of the Handicap Stars team, 11 physically disabled young adults, played a 9-hole course. Additionally, it was our great pleasure to have the US Consul General Timothy Liston and Brigadier General Joseph E. Hilbert, US Army, who traveled from Grafenwöhr, lead the match. The Golf Club Munich Aschheim, according to information from Manager Simon Arnold, is the most active inclusion golf club in Europe. Accordingly, the players with their various physical limitations were well-trained and achieved superb results – sensitively and perfectly attended to by their trainer, Liz Höh. The tournament was sponsored by the Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft and under the leadership of our Club Treasurer Heidi Büchl.

The generous donations of the participants and invited guests overwhelmed Ms. Hildegard Mayr, Director, Sehbehinderten- und Blindenzentrum Südbayern (Center for the Vision-impaired and Blind Southern Bavaria), in Unterschleißheim. She was visibly touched as she accepted a donation check for 2000 Euros. These funds will enable their in-house soccer team to be outfitted with jerseys and in the new year, will provide for a ‘Scent Garden’ to be installed on school grounds. Blind youth will thus be able to experience and enjoy the wide variety of plants olfactorily. The tournament ended with a shared fun-filled dinner.

Inklusions-Golf-Turnier 2024

Nach zwei erfolgreichen Inklusions-Turnieren zusammen mit den Handicap-Stars des Golfclub Aschheim, der Mannschaft junger körperbehinderter Erwachsener und Mitgliedern und Gästen des Deutsch-Amerikanischen Frauenclubs war die Nachfrage nach einer Weiterführung so groß, so dass wir im September 2024 zum dritten Mal an den Start gehen.
